Edgeworth Partner Chuck Fields provided expert testimony in a wrongful termination matter involving allegations that Supervalu, Inc. had inappropriately terminated an employee due to her age. Mr. Fields analyzed and responded to the plaintiff expert’s assessment of damages. His examination included:

• Assessing the work-life expectancy of the plaintiff using recent econometric models
• Determining appropriate estimates for mitigating earnings using the plaintiff’s employment history as well as publicly available data regarding relevant job opportunities and the corresponding compensation data
• Estimating the appropriate duration of unemployment based on historic levels measured in government databases

Mr. Fields’ analysis demonstrated that the plaintiff’s expert had considerably overstated damages. The case settled before trial.
