Wage Determination Study

Working on behalf of the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), Edgeworth Chief Executive Officer Dr. John H. Johnson submitted testimony to the Department of Labor that demonstrated the wage determined by the agency for corrections officers in Oklahoma City, OK, greatly exceeded the prevailing wage in the area. Dr. Johnson’s study:

• Reviewed publicly available information on relevant wages from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and job postings for correction officers
• Analyzed private data on commuting distances and turnover trends
• Concluded that the wage set by the Department of Labor exceeded other local comparative wages

The Department of Labor agreed to adjust the wage rate to one more in line with comparative wages in the region.
