Apr 2, 2013
Tuesday, April 2, 2013, 12–1 pm
Ms. Erin Johnston, an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and Dr. Laila Haider, a partner at Edgeworth Economics, will discuss the current role of rigorous economic analysis in direct purchaser and indirect purchaser antitrust class actions from both a legal and an economic perspective. Ms. Johnston will discuss the evolution of the legal standard for economic analysis in class actions and where we are today. Dr. Haider will analyze the issue of "common impact" from the perspective of an economist, describing how economic analysis may be utilized to determine whether injury to proposed class members can be assessed using evidence that is common to the class as opposed to evidence that is specific to individual class members.
